Rivas-Vaciamadrid City Council will establish an investigative committee to clarify the urban planning file of the local PP secretary and former councillor. The mayor, Aída Castillejo, proposed the measure to the Board of Spokespersons following complaints from the PP and the affected party.

The City Council of Rivas-Vaciamadrid will establish an investigative committee to clarify everything related to the urban planning file of the secretary general of the PP of Rivas and former councillor of the Council. The mayor, Aída Castillejo, has proposed this measure to the Board of Spokespersons after complaints and writings submitted by the spokesperson for the PP of Rivas, Janette Novo, and by the affected party regarding their file and alleged malpractice by municipal civil servants.

The mayor already requested the opening of a confidential information file as soon as she received the document submitted by the PP spokesperson. The purpose of this internal investigation is to determine whether any municipal civil servant has acted incorrectly, to review it, correct it, and initiate, if necessary, the corresponding sanctioning procedure.

In the face of such complaints, the best course of action is to operate with maximum transparency, as we have always done. If there is any issue in the processing of this file, we want to know it, clarify it, and act accordingly,” Castillejo stated.

The mayor lamented that the PP of Rivas focuses its political activity on attacking the work of public staff at the City Council and repeatedly questioning municipal administrative procedures.

If any member of the municipal staff has done something wrong in this City Council, we want to know it, review it, and correct it, and if it is appropriate to demand accountability, we will be the first to do so. But if the file is correct and complies with the regulations, I will not allow the PP to further muddy local politics because a person from their party is involved in a file for an urban infraction,” the mayor asserted.

For his part, the councillor for Organisation and Public Function, Alberto Cabeza, defended the work of municipal employees.

The civil servants of this City Council work with the utmost professionalism and integrity, as public servants. If there is any reason for reproach, we will be the first to demand it, but if there is not, we will also be the first to defend the professionalism and good work of municipal workers,” Cabeza stated.

The Board of Spokespersons, which approved the establishment of the investigative committee, has set a deadline until next Wednesday, September 23 for each political party to appoint its representatives and establish the body.
