The Plenary of the Villanueva de la Cañada Town Hall has approved a motion from the PP demanding extraordinary measures from the Government in Ceuta, with the support of Vox and the PSOE's opposing vote. The session also unanimously approved the General Account for 2025 and the adhesion to the La Garbancera Madrileña Association.
The Plenary of Villanueva de la Cañada has approved a motion in defence of the Spanish sovereignty of Ceuta and Melilla and to demand the Spanish Government adopt extraordinary measures in response to the serious events occurring in Ceuta. The initiative, presented by the PP Municipal Group, has passed with the support of Vox and the opposing vote of the PSOE.
The text expresses support and solidarity with the autonomous city and urges the Executive to reinforce the State's means and resources in Ceuta, to permanently intensify the protection and surveillance of the border, as well as to deploy the necessary means to ensure the recovery of full normality and rights for the people of Ceuta. It also calls for the effective return to Morocco of individuals who entered Spanish territory irregularly and for the Government to demand Morocco fulfil its cooperation commitments.
The motion includes recognition and gratitude for the work of the State Security Forces and Corps, the Armed Forces, the Local Police, emergency services, and public employees working in the area.
In the same session, the Plenary unanimously approved the General Account for the 2025 Financial Year, as well as the Town Hall's adhesion to the Association of producers and promoters of the Madrid chickpea from the western area, La Garbancera Madrileña.
