The Alcalá de Henares City Council will allocate half a million euros to renovate the Cruz del Siglo park, with more green areas and better accessibility. The works will last four months.
The Alcalá de Henares City Council has approved the renovation project for the Cruz del Siglo park, an initiative that will involve an investment of 500,000 euros and a completion period of four months. The works are part of the 'Parks with Life' initiative, included in the comprehensive plan 'Alcalá improves its neighbourhoods'.
The project includes the conditioning of the space for social use and its restoration with criteria of sustainability, energy efficiency, and accessibility. Among the planned improvements, the resting areas will be renovated, the green space will be increased, and low-value bare areas will be reduced, as explained by the Councillor for the Environment, Vicente Pérez.
Specifically, the area of meadows will be expanded by 430 square metres, and 10 trees and 1,330 shrubs of 12 different species will be planted. Accessibility and flooring will also be improved, furniture and lighting will be renewed, sustainable irrigation will be installed, and the stairs will be made accessible.
The resting areas of the park will be renovated by increasing the green area and reducing low-value bare spaces,” detailed the councillor.
The Cruz del Siglo park is one of the 14 spaces included in 'Parks with Life', an initiative that has a total investment of over 10 million euros and which the City Council considers the most ambitious action in the last 25 years to modernise the green areas of the city.
The works, which do not yet have a start date, will take place over four months and will affect the daily lives of the residents who use this park, who will see a key space for leisure and relaxation in the neighbourhood renewed.
