The Los Olmos Consortium has presented a new compactor truck that will enhance collection routes in Ambite, Olmeda de las Fuentes, Pozuelo del Rey, and Villar del Olmo. The investment exceeds €245,000 and is funded by the Regional Investment Programme of the Community of Madrid.
The Los Olmos Consortium unveiled this Friday a new compactor truck that joins the fleet serving Ambite, Olmeda de las Fuentes, Pozuelo del Rey, and Villar del Olmo. The vehicle represents an investment of over €245,000, financed through a supramunicipal initiative of the Regional Investment Programme of the Community of Madrid.
The purchase responds to the increase in the volume of waste managed in recent years. In 2025, 1,849.82 tonnes of residual and packaging waste were collected, compared to 1,767.58 tonnes in 2022, marking an increase of 4.7%.
The mayor of Ambite, Apolonio Alcaide, noted during the vehicle's reception that this acquisition demonstrates a commitment to cleanliness in the municipalities and complements the addition of a 100% electric collection truck last March.
This acquisition is the best demonstration that we are committed to the cleanliness of our towns,” commented Apolonio Alcaide, who added that it is “an achievement, but also a statement of intent for a small consortium with a firm goal of recycling more and better.
With this addition, in just six months, the Los Olmos Consortium has completely renewed its fleet, with a total investment of €474,700, of which only €23,000 comes from its own funds.
The new truck features three axles, the last being directional, to facilitate manoeuvring in the narrow streets of the towns. It includes a rear lift to empty containers of up to 1,100 litres and a compaction box of 21 cubic metres, allowing for more waste to be transported on each trip and reducing the number of trips required to unload.
Among its technical features are also a watertight box and hopper, designed to prevent liquid spillage during collection and transport, a camera to view the rear working area, as well as various safety elements for the operators.
