The Aranjuez City Council has awarded José María Villasante SL the service of quality control of drinking water for €15,246 over a period of three years.
The Aranjuez City Council has awarded José María Villasante SL the service of quality control of drinking water in the municipality. The contract, which has been resolved through the State contracting platform, will last for three years and has a total amount of €15,246, taxes included.
Six companies submitted their bids for this service. Ultimately, the offer from José María Villasante SL was the one that obtained the best value for money, according to information published by the riverside council.
The service will consist of taking samples at 28 control points at the consumer's tap in Aranjuez, in addition to 12 samples at the NGO BASIDA. This centre, due to its geographical location and the vulnerability of the people it serves, will have special monitoring with the approval of the City Council, given that the supply infrastructures have a long route to that point.
In addition to taking samples, the awarded company must analyse them, prepare the results bulletins, and notify the data to the SINAC (National Information System for Drinking Water). It will also be responsible for the Water Health Plan (PSA) in two priority municipal buildings: the Agustín Marañón Sports Centre and the Las Olivas Sports City.
Under the previous regulations, the number of required samples was higher. Most of the current sampling points are municipal centres with a large influx of people or with sensitive populations, such as educational, health, and social centres, which is why it has been decided to maintain the same number of analyses, thus exceeding the established minimum.
The spokesperson councillor for the Independent Citizens' Group for Aranjuez (Acipa), Jesús Mario Blasco, has assessed the award and emphasised the importance of monitoring water quality. “We must pay special attention to the water we consume… historically, the water from the Canal de Isabel II has always been one of the best waters in all of Spain, which does not mean we should let our guard down regarding its quality,” he stated.
Blasco expressed hope that “the awarded company will start working as soon as possible, the analyses will be correct, and the quality of the water we ingest will be within the established legal parameters.” He also requested that, in the event of any incidents, “these should be communicated to the public as soon as possible.”
