The Town Hall of Chapinería informs about the new measures from the Community of Madrid to support farmers and ranchers affected by the fire in the Sierra Oeste, which include extraordinary aid, compensation, and agreements with banks.
The Town Hall of Chapinería has activated an information channel so that its residents are aware of the new support measures that the Community of Madrid is preparing for farmers and ranchers affected by the fire in the Sierra Oeste. The aim is to ensure that no damaged farm is left without access to the available resources.
Among the announced actions, a new call for extraordinary aid to repair damaged facilities and machinery stands out, as well as compensation for losses in agricultural and livestock production directly related to the fire. Compensation for animals that died due to the fire is also included.
The regional government also plans to sign a agreement with banking entities to advance the amount of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) payments to the affected parties, covering the interest payments. This measure aims to provide liquidity to professionals at a crucial time for the recovery of their farms.
In the administrative sphere, exceptional force majeure will be applied in the eco-schemes of the CAP 2026 applications, in the associated aid for the fattening of calves, and in certain direct aids for 2027. Deadlines for justifying modernization benefits and the incorporation of young farmers and investments by local corporations in agricultural infrastructure will also be relaxed.
The Madrid Institute of Rural, Agricultural, and Food Research and Development (IMIDRA) will activate measures for the reproduction and conservation of damaged plant material and will promote new plantations to preserve traditional grape varieties. Aid for the replenishment of native breeds and a specific line for the recovery of affected vineyards will also be added, along with an applied research program on the effects of the fire.
Urgent measures are already underway with an emergency contract endowed with one million euros. These include water distribution, the supply of over half a million kilos of forage, repair of infrastructure, restoration of rural roads and livestock paths, and veterinary assistance. Technicians from the Department of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior are already supervising the damaged facilities.
