Coslada's Local Police expands its staff with the Family Support Unit, which integrates the monitoring of domestic violence and the functions of the Tutor Agents. The force joins the VIOGEN system.
The Local Police of Coslada has launched the Family Support Unit (UAF), a new specialised section that expands the functions previously carried out by the Tutor Agents and also takes on the monitoring of domestic violence cases. The unit is made up of one officer and three agents, one of whom is a woman.
The delegated councillor for Security, Macarena Orosa, explained that the creation of the UAF responds to a new intervention model to jointly address situations affecting the family environment.
The creation of the UAF represents a new intervention model that allows for a coordinated and joint approach to the different situations that may affect the family environment, providing more comprehensive, close, and specialised attention to minors, women, and families.
In the field of domestic violence, the unit will work in coordination with the National Police Station of Coslada-San Fernando to strengthen the monitoring of victims and the response to potential risk situations. The force joins the Comprehensive Monitoring System for Cases of Domestic Violence (VIOGEN) through an agreement that includes an action protocol in accordance with Law 1/2004, on Comprehensive Protection Measures against Domestic Violence.
This protocol sets seven priority objectives: to locate and detain the alleged aggressor when appropriate, to provide a rapid response to victims in risk situations, to prevent victimisation due to duplicate actions, to inform about the right to specialised and free legal defence, to inform about protection orders and available social benefits, to expedite the transmission of information to judicial bodies, and to coordinate public and non-governmental resources for legal and psychosocial support.
The UAF also maintains the tasks of the Tutor Agents with educational centres, families, and Social Services in cases of bullying, cyberbullying, absenteeism, risk behaviours, and family conflicts.
The commissioner of the Local Police of Coslada, Gabriel Cerrato, stated that the unit reinforces the preventive and specialised police model of the municipality.
With the establishment of the UAF, the Local Police of Coslada reinforces its commitment to a preventive, specialised, and close police model, aimed at improving the protection and attention of families and, especially, the most vulnerable groups.
The integration of both areas of action seeks to prevent family problems from being addressed in isolation and to offer a more comprehensive view of the circumstances affecting minors, women, and families in Coslada.
