The mayor of Las Rozas and the education councillor visited the institute to mark the start of the 2026/2027 school year, which affects over 612,000 students in the region.
The mayor of Las Rozas, José de la Uz, accompanied the councillor for Education, Science and Universities, Mercedes Zarzalejo, on her visit to IES José García Nieto to celebrate the beginning of the 2026/2027 school year. More than 612,000 students from ESO, Bachillerato and vocational training are starting today at public and private concerted schools in the Community of Madrid.
During the tour, which also included the councillor for Education, Gloria Fernández; the director of the centre, Pilar García Faramin, and the director of the Madrid West Territorial Area, José Macías, the authorities visited the laboratory, the computer room and the sports fields alongside a group of students.
In Las Rozas, the novelty this year is that the CEIPSOs Los Jarales and Mario Vargas Llosa offer 1st and 2nd year of ESO, and Fernando de los Ríos is adding 1st year of ESO to its educational offer.
