The new municipal office, located in the La Posada Centre, will assist every Wednesday starting in September and will manage the Fast Pass for the Patron Saint Festivities.
The Galapagar City Council will launch the 'Galapagar Includes' Municipal Office this September, a direct support service for people with disabilities and their families. This new initiative, driven by the Department of Inclusion and Accessibility, will operate as a pilot project aimed at reducing administrative barriers and providing personalised support.
The office will be located in the La Posada Centre, in the Plaza de la Constitución, and will serve residents every Wednesday from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:00. It will have a qualified professional in Social Work or Psychology, who will provide information on public and private aid, resources, and benefits, assist with administrative procedures, and offer individual guidance.
In addition to advising on the use of digital tools, the service will collect non-identifiable information about the needs regarding disability in the municipality. This data will be used to create reports that improve future inclusion and accessibility policies.
One of its first missions will be to manage the new 'Galapagar Includes' Priority Access Wristband, known as Fast Pass, during the Patron Saint Festivities. This wristband allows for preferential access to attractions at the fairground and is aimed at individuals with a disability rating of 33% or higher, with no age limit and no requirement to be registered in Galapagar.
The wristband will be personal and non-transferable, allowing the holder to enter accompanied by one other person. It does not mean skipping queues, but rather using the preferential access provided by each attraction, always following safety regulations. It can be collected on September 2, 7, 8, and 9 at the office, in the morning and afternoon on the 2nd, and only in the morning on the 7th, 8th, and 9th.
The Councillor for Inclusion and Accessibility, José María Escudero, emphasises that with this office, the City Council is taking another step to ensure that disability is not a barrier to accessing municipal services or enjoying the festivities.
The goal is clear: that disability should not be a barrier to accessing municipal services or enjoying life in the municipality, and that this September, all residents can experience their Patron Saint Festivities on equal terms,” says Escudero.
The opening of the office adds to other inclusive measures for the festivities, such as sensory kits in Civil Protection, training in neurodiversity for Local Police and Civil Protection, and the Noisy-Free Fair from 19:00 to 21:00. There will also be an accessible area in the Plaza de la Constitución for concerts.
With this initiative, Galapagar strengthens its inclusion strategy throughout the year, with a service that aims to be a close point of reference for families.
