The City Council of Getafe will fully allocate the funds from the 2026 edition of the Santa Cecilia Festival, in November, to humanitarian aid in Ceuta.
The City Council of Getafe will donate the proceeds from the 2026 Santa Cecilia Festival, which will take place in November, to NGOs that work in humanitarian aid in Ceuta. The event, which commemorates the patron saint of musicians, maintains its charitable nature and previously allocated its funds in 2025 to Special Olympics, and in earlier editions to Red Cross, Cáritas, and the Food Bank.
The councillor for Coexistence, Luis Domínguez, has stated that “in light of the crisis being experienced in Ceuta, the response from Spaniards must be unanimous, coordinating and collaborating from all institutions, as well as deploying the necessary resources to defend the security and integrity of our borders.”
The municipal government frames the initiative within the line of institutional responsibility of the Government of Spain and criticises “the exclusionary positions” of the right and the far-right, whom it accuses of “instrumentalising the human drama.”
The donation adds to other solidarity actions from the municipality and aims to “add tangible resources” to strengthen support for migrants in the autonomous city.
