The Getafe City Council is organising the QKFest from September 25 to 27, featuring free music, theatre, circus, and dance performances in the centre and in the neighbourhoods of El Bercial, Buenavista, Los Molinos, and Perales del Río.
The QKFest, the Qulture Festival in Kalle, will once again fill the streets and squares of Getafe with free shows for all audiences on the days of 25, 26, and 27 September. The programme includes music, theatre, circus, dance, painting, and crafts, with most activities taking place in the town centre and also in the neighbourhoods of El Bercial, Buenavista, Los Molinos, and Perales del Río.
The Councillor for Culture, Luis Domínguez, has stated that the festival continues its commitment to bringing culture to the streets.
We remain true to our belief that culture is not a luxury but a right that transforms and creates a city; we believe our squares should continue to be places of meeting, tolerance, and fun for family enjoyment," declared Domínguez.
Among the highlighted activities is the Art-FITEC Renaissance Market, which will be set up from September 25 to 27 on the streets Escuelas Pías, Felipe Estévez, Pablo Iglesias, Lorenzo Azofra, and UNESCO square, commemorating the 500th anniversary of Don Álvaro de Bazán. The local market GETART will take place on the 26th and 27th on Padre Faustino street, and the XXIII National Quick Painting Contest will be held on Saturday the 26th at the Teatro de la Calle Madrid.
Flamenco will have its space at the Hospitalillo de San José with the QKFest Flamenco cycle, which includes talks, workshops, and recitals. The main concerts will feature José del Curro on Friday the 25th, Kiki Morente on Saturday the 26th, and Roque Torres on Sunday the 27th. The Flour Factory will host the photographic exhibition 'El Madrid de los tablaos'.
In music and performing arts on the street, there will be parades with El Puntito Canalla Brass Band, circus shows, the 'Festival Gatadans' of dance, street parties with Cristosaurio, Rock and Giksen, and Black RockNrolla, traditional children's games on Calle Madrid, and itinerant performances such as 'Babel' by Xarxa Teatre or 'Animaciclo, Hexagonum and Psycho' by Teatro Destellos.
The programme will also reach the neighbourhoods on Saturday the 26th. At 12:00 there will be simultaneous family shows in Los Molinos with 'Cambuche', and at 19:00, 'Aire'; in El Bercial, 'Soy la bomba' will be performed; in Perales del Río, 'Maleta y manta'; and in Buenavista, 'Mi, sol, si… ya'.
The festival also includes professional meetings such as a Programmers' Fair and the Street Arts Congress, organised alongside PATEA and FITEC at the El Portal space. The complete programme can be consulted on the website cultura.getafe.es.
