The municipality of Horcajuelo de la Sierra joins the free initiative 'Join' to promote car sharing and improve local mobility.

The Town Hall of Horcajuelo de la Sierra has announced its adoption of 'Join', a free application designed to connect people making similar journeys and thus facilitate car sharing among residents.

The initiative, aimed at improving local mobility, seeks to provide a practical alternative to the transport challenges affecting the area, especially for daily commutes to Madrid and neighbouring municipalities for work, study, or errands.

Among the advantages highlighted by the council are economic savings by sharing travel costs, greater flexibility and connection among residents, students, and workers, and more sustainable mobility under the slogan “Fewer cars, more company”.

The application optimises empty seats in vehicles and allows for the sharing of travel expenses. Interested individuals can already download it from Google Play.

Fewer cars, more company

With this measure, Horcajuelo de la Sierra joins a growing trend in rural areas to combat depopulation and dependence on private cars, providing its residents with a tool that enhances their daily lives and reduces the number of vehicles on the road.

The application is already operational, and residents can register for free to start sharing rides.
