The municipality will benefit from 7 waste collection vehicles and 12 sweepers, thanks to a regional investment of €11.5 million in the area.
Horcajuelo de la Sierra will have improved street cleaning and waste collection services following the delivery of a new fleet of vehicles to the Valle del Lozoya Consortium, of which the municipality is a part. The provision, funded by the Community of Madrid, includes 7 waste collection vehicles and 12 state-of-the-art sweepers.
The Minister of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, officially presented the delivery last Saturday, the 8th, in the neighbouring town of Prádena del Rincón. This initiative is part of a regional investment of €11.5 million aimed at strengthening services in 85 towns in the Sierra Norte.
The Town Hall of Horcajuelo de la Sierra has expressed its satisfaction with this improvement, which will allow for better maintenance of the streets and the natural environment of the municipality. Additionally, the Consortium has decided to make part of the new machinery available to municipalities affected by the recent fire in the Sierra Oeste, for urgent tasks such as debris cleaning, management of plant waste, and logistical support in reconstruction.
This collaboration reflects the commitment of the Consortium and Horcajuelo de la Sierra to the affected residents. The arrival of these vehicles is part of a larger plan of 35 supramunicipal actions that the regional government is developing with a total budget of €200 million.
For the area surrounding Horcajuelo, the plan includes projects such as a new park-and-ride facility in Prádena del Rincón, the construction of slaughterhouses in Buitrago del Lozoya and Colmenar Viejo, the expansion of elderly care homes in Robledillo and Pinilla de Buitrago, the new headquarters of the Picasso Museum in Buitrago de Lozoya, and the building of six fire stations.
At the same time, the Community of Madrid has mobilised €20 million from the PIR Reserve Fund to finance the cleaning of burned areas, managing to remove the equivalent of more than 880 containers of debris and plant waste so far, as well as providing all-terrain vehicles and professional machinery to the affected municipalities.
The residents of Horcajuelo de la Sierra will notice a direct improvement in the maintenance of their streets and natural spaces, with a more modern and efficient fleet. The Town Hall will continue to collaborate with the Consortium and regional institutions to ensure top-level public services.
