The 2025/26 academic year of the Municipal Sports Schools of Las Rozas concludes with 6,772 participants, the best figure in four years. Women represent 62% of the total.
The Municipal Sports Schools of Las Rozas have closed the 2025/26 academic year with 6,772 participants, the best figure in the last four years. This number marks a slight increase compared to previous seasons and consolidates the municipal sports offer as one of the most popular in the locality.
Of the total registered, 3,348 students belong to the Infant Schools, while 3,424 people enrolled in the Adult and Over 65 programmes. Among all of them, the female presence is clearly predominant: 4,213 women (62.2%) compared to 2,559 men (37.8%).
This gender difference decreases in the children's categories, where 1,668 girls and 1,684 boys were counted. In contrast, in the Adult and Over 65 categories, the gap widens: 2,545 women compared to 876 men.
The Sports Department, led by Juan Cabrera, coordinates these schools, which cover a very wide age range: from children aged one year to participants over 90. Among the programmes for adults and seniors, the most in-demand was Physical Conditioning, with 832 enrolees, of which 564 are over 65 years old. This is followed by Swimming (541) and Aquafitness (410).
In the children's section, Learning Swimming leads the demand with 1,443 students, plus 175 in improvement courses. Football ranks second with 247 players, and Artistic Gymnastics comes third with 207. Athletics (189), Basketball (142), Karate (138), and Tennis (133) also stand out.
The offer for adults includes fourteen disciplines, including Physical Conditioning, Aerobics, Aquafitness, Self-Defence, Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga, or Zumba. For those over 65, there are four options: Physical Conditioning, Swimming, Water Toning, and Leisure Tennis. The infant schools, on the other hand, offer eighteen activities, from Athletics and Baby Swimming to Fencing, Judo, Water Polo, or Volleyball.
Registrations for the 2026/27 academic year are already open. They can be formalised through the municipal website www.lasrozas.es or in person at the Dehesa de Navalcarbón sports centre, from 8:15 to 14:45 during the month of August.
