The Municipal Theatre Las Cigüeñas in Hoyo de Manzanares will hold the traditional contest for the election of Queens and Ladies of the Patronal Festivities on Saturday, August 29. The Department of Festivities has called the event, which will begin at 18:30, with registrations open from 18:00.
Residents or registered women in the municipality can participate. The youth and children categories require ages of 15 to 25 years and 8 to 14 years, respectively, and the winners will be decided by scoring: the highest for queen and the second for lady. There is also a category for Senior Queen, for women over 60 years.
The jury, made up of three members of the Festivities Commission, will score the candidates from 0 to 5 points. Prizes include a mobile phone for the youth queens and ladies, and a tablet for the children.
The gift presentation will take place, as is tradition, during the Romería, the event following the Patronal Festivities, which will occur on the first Sunday of October. The complete rules can be downloaded from the Town Hall's website.
