The City Council of Aranjuez has announced the complete programme for the Motín Festival, which will take place from September 2 to 6 with concerts, historical reenactments, and the Pirate Descent of the Tajo.
The City Council of Aranjuez has presented the full schedule for the Motín Festival 2026, which will be held from September 2 to 6. The celebration, declared of National Tourist Interest in 1900 and International Tourist Interest in 2014, will combine historical events with musical, family, and gastronomic proposals spread across the neighbourhoods and emblematic spaces of the municipality.
Music will play a significant role. Among the scheduled performances are La Pegatina, Coti, and Jaime Urrutia, as well as the tribute to Miguel Bosé Boseido, the orchestras from Calle Infantas, and DJ sessions at the Raso de la Estrella.
The festivities will kick off on Wednesday, September 2 at 21:00 hours in the Plaza de la Constitución with a performance by the rock band that won the La Isla 2026 Rock Band Contest, Motín del Tajo, featuring Isla's Band as special guests.
On Thursday, September 3, at 21:30 hours in the same square, the Pregón will be delivered by José Luis Salcedo Nieto, 'Pepín', accompanied by the ARHES XIX Association. Before this, the Banda de la Escuela Municipal de Música Joaquín Rodrigo will perform, and afterwards, the traditional firing of the Fresón and the Espárrago will mark the official start. The night will continue with the Orquesta Atlántida and DJs Jorge Gómez and Chechu.
On Friday, September 4, one of the central events will take place, the Assault on the Casa de Godoy, which will depart at 21:30 hours from the Plaza de la Constitución through the streets Stuart and del Príncipe to the Godoy Palace, recalling the events of 1808. That day, there will be performances by Boseido at 22:00 hours in the Plaza de la Constitución, La Pegatina at 23:00 hours in the Plaza de San Antonio, a DJ session at the Raso de la Estrella from midnight with Álex Colomo, Riskero, and Silvia G, and the Orquesta Loriens at 01:00 hours in Calle de las Infantas.
The Friday programme also includes the Paella del Mayor and family activities such as the Children's Running of the Bulls and the Boloencierro, followed by the Family Party with workshops, bouncy castles, and a children's show in Calle de la Reina.
On Saturday, September 5, at 21:30 hours in the Plaza de Parejas, next to the Royal Palace, the title of Amotinado Mayor 2026 will be awarded to the Reina Sofía Foundation. At 22:00 hours, the same space will host the Reenactment of the Motín of Aranjuez.
Saturday's events will feature Jaime Urrutia at 22:00 hours in the Plaza de la Constitución, Coti at midnight in the Plaza de San Antonio, a DJ session at the Raso de la Estrella with Chechu, Álex Oliva, and Del Puerto, and the Orquesta Exilum at 01:00 hours in Calle de las Infantas. There will also be a Neighbourhood Party in La Montaña, Glorieta del Clavel, Las Aves, and AGFA, Tardeo in Calle de las Infantas, and the 1st Battle of Roosters of Aranjuez in the Parque Pozo de las Nieves.
Gastronomy will have its space on Saturday with 'Endless Tapas at the Motín Festival', which will raffle ten prizes of 100 euros among those who dine at three of the participating establishments.
On Sunday, September 6, the 45th edition of the Pirate Descent of the Tajo will take place, gathering numerous participants in the river's waters. The day will continue with the Goyesca Bullfight at 18:30 hours in the Bicentenary Bullring of Aranjuez, featuring six bulls from Núñez del Cuvillo for Morante de la Puebla, Juan Ortega, and Pablo Aguado.
