The Town Hall of Manzanares el Real launches VerdApp, a voluntary programme that rewards recycling with vouchers of 15, 30 or 50 euros to spend in local shops. The participation period starts on September 14 and ends on March 14.
Recycling in Manzanares el Real will have a financial reward. The Town Hall has launched VerdApp, a voluntary service that provides vouchers of up to 50 euros redeemable in the municipality's shops in exchange for correctly disposing of waste.
The system works with NFC technology, the same used for mobile payments. The user only needs to download the app, register, and each time they recycle, bring their unlocked phone close to the chip installed in the container. They then receive a notification and accept the registration. There is no need to open the app for each deposit or have an internet connection at that moment.
The programme establishes three levels of reward based on consistency and the degree of waste separation. The first, called Start Recycling, gives a voucher of 15 euros. The second, Maintain the Habit, increases to 30 euros. And the third, Separate Even More, reaches 50 euros. The exact criteria to reach each level can be consulted within the app itself.
The schedule is fixed. Participation is open from September 14 to March 14, while the vouchers obtained can be used from March 14 to May 15. The download of VerdApp is free and all information is available at www.verdapp.com.
