The town hall of Perales de Tajuña has completed the comprehensive renovation of the multipurpose room of the Municipal Sports Centre, which will be operational again next Monday. The work cost €20,078, fully funded by the Community of Madrid.
The multipurpose room of the Municipal Sports Centre of Perales de Tajuña is now ready to resume its activities. The town hall has finished the comprehensive rehabilitation of this space, used each week by over 300 users, and the scheduled activities will start again next Monday.
The mayor, Yolanda Cuenca, visited the facility along with several councillors from the Government Team to check the results of the work.
The total investment has been €20,078, entirely covered by the subsidy from the Community of Madrid for municipalities with between 2,500 and 20,000 inhabitants, aimed at the maintenance and improvement of municipal sports facilities.
The main work involved replacing the old PVC flooring, which was over 20 years old, with new solid beech wood flooring Junckers of 22 millimetres. A sports skirting board has also been installed, the walls have been covered, and painting work has been carried out.
This type of flooring is used in top-level competitions such as FIBA championships, EuroBasket, EuroLeague, and the Olympic Games. According to the town hall, it offers greater comfort during exercise and better impact cushioning, which reduces the strain on joints and muscles. Additionally, it allows for future renovations through sanding and applying a new finish.
The room hosts activities such as gymnastics for seniors, pilates, yoga, zumba, karate, total training, cross training, and psychomotricity. The town hall is now working on the project for the renewal of the roof and thermal insulation of the sports centre.
