Móstoles celebrates Mobility Week with culture, sport and road safety

From September 16 to 22, Móstoles celebrates European Mobility Week with cultural performances, road safety workshops, and a car-free day.

Móstoles celebrates from September 16 to 22 the European Mobility Week with cultural, sports and educational activities under the slogan 'Mobility for All'. The programme includes road safety workshops, a car-free day, and a cycling route between university campuses.

Móstoles hosts the European Mobility Week from this Wednesday, September 16, until Tuesday, September 22, organised by the Móstoles City Council through the Department of Mobility, Transport, Consumption and Festivities. Under the slogan 'Mobility for All', the programme combines sport, culture and inclusion with the aim of raising awareness about more sustainable transport in the municipality.

The Plaza del Sol will host free cultural performances every evening. On Wednesday 16 at 19:00, the Ciudad de Móstoles Dance School and the Paula García Dance School will perform; on Thursday 17 at 20:00, it will be the turn of the La Caleta Cultural Association; on Friday 18 at 20:00, the Rodolfo Halffter Professional Conservatory of Music will perform; on Saturday 19 at 20:00, the José Merino Dance Studio; on Sunday 20 at 19:00, the Urban Dances Association; on Monday 21 at 19:00, the Coral Villa de Móstoles; and on Tuesday 22 at 19:00, Cali Capoeira will close the event.

The photographic exhibition 'Pedestrian, don't cross your life' will be open from September 16 to 22 at the Joan Miró Sociocultural Centre. Organised by the STOP Accidents Association in collaboration with the City Council, it features 22 photographs on mobility and road safety in urban and interurban contexts.

The Department of Security, Emergencies and Environment will launch educational publications as part of the campaign 'Mobility changes. Safety does too', to teach how to coexist with new urban transport. This Wednesday 16, from 17:00 to 20:00, there will be children's road safety workshops with STOP Accidents at the Fountain of the Fish. On Thursday 17, from 12:00 to 20:00, the Plaza del Sol will host a playful day with a truck of interactive activities and new children's workshops.

On Saturday 19, Iker Casillas Avenue will be closed to traffic from 10:30 to 15:00 for a car-free day where skating and sports will be allowed. At 11:30, there will be a lap around the Finca Liana Park and open classes with the Reno Hockey Club. From September 21 to 22, from 14:00 to 17:00, the Finca Liana Park will host the Mapfre Road Safety Circuit.

Educational centres will have talks and screenings of 'Dialogues for Reflection' alongside ADISFIM on inclusive mobility from September 16 to 22. On Friday 18, from 10:00 to 14:00, the URJC Intercampus Route will take place, a cycling march connecting the campuses of Móstoles, Alcorcón and Fuenlabrada. On the same day, the 'Parking Day' school workshops and the awareness workshops 'Move with ONCE' will be offered. The Educational Cycling Route will close the programme on Monday 21 from CEIP Severo Ochoa to the El Soto Natural Park, in collaboration with the Arco Verde programme of the Community of Madrid.
