The Local Government Board of Móstoles has approved the tender for the works to replace the bridge at the Soto Natural Park, with an investment of €373,131.74 and a new location that will protect a paleontological area.

The Móstoles City Council has given the green light to the construction of a new bridge in the Soto Natural Park, an action that will involve an investment of €373,131.74. The Local Government Board approved this on August 27, 2026, the tender for the works, which include land conditioning, demolition of the current footbridge, and the construction of a new one.

The new bridge will be built approximately 30 meters downstream from the current one, at one of the park's access points. This relocation serves a dual purpose: to take advantage of a more favourable stretch of the riverbed and to preserve a paleontological protection area identified in the surroundings. The design aims to blend into the landscape and facilitate both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

The works already have the necessary permits to operate in the public hydraulic domain, granted by the Tagus Hydrographic Confederation, as well as authorization from the Area of Livestock Routes of the Ministry of Environment, Culture and Interior of the Community of Madrid for the occupation of livestock routes. The project for archaeological-paleontological monitoring and control has also been approved by the General Subdirectorate of Historical Heritage.

With this action, the Móstoles council aims to improve access to one of the most used natural spaces in the locality, ensuring the safety of visitors and the conservation of the environment. The start date for the works and the execution period have not yet been made public and will be known once the contract award is formalised.
