The eclipse will begin at approximately 19:35 hours, reach its maximum at 20:32 hours, and end around 21:19 hours. The Municipal Arboretum “Jardín de la Alcarria” has been prepared for observation, a natural space that will host attendees throughout the event.
The Town Hall of Nuevo Baztán thus joins the programme of activities promoted by the Community of Madrid, which has designated several municipalities in the region as observation points for this exceptional astronomical event, which will not occur again with these characteristics for many decades.
From the council, they make a special appeal to all residents to ensure that the observation is conducted only with approved glasses for solar observation (ISO 12312-2). Looking directly at the Sun without proper protection can cause serious and irreversible eye injuries.
Furthermore, they remind that conventional sunglasses, X-rays, tinted glasses, or homemade filters should not be used. The eclipse should also not be observed through mobile phones, cameras, binoculars, or telescopes without specific solar filters.
The event is on August 12 from 19:35 hours at the Municipal Arboretum “Jardín de la Alcarria”. Glasses will be distributed until supplies last, so it is recommended to arrive early to secure a pair and find a good spot to view the sky.
