The Sierra Norte Consortium promotes Olkano, a free daily confirmation application for people living alone, with special attention to those over 65 years old.
The General Interest Consortium of Sierra Norte Services, through its Unwanted Loneliness Project, is promoting the use of Olkano, a free application aimed at enhancing the safety of those living alone in municipalities like Redueña.
The tool works as a daily confirmation system: the registered person receives a reminder to indicate that they are well. If they do not respond, the system automatically alerts the trusted contacts they have previously designated.
Unlike traditional emergency devices, which require pressing a button or calling for help, Olkano acts preventively. It only activates when confirmation is missing, which is especially useful if the person cannot access their phone or communicate a risky situation.
The initiative primarily targets people over 65 years old in the Sierra Norte, although the application is available to anyone living alone who wants to increase their peace of mind and that of their relatives.
The Redueña Town Hall encourages residents to learn about this tool, which helps promote the autonomy and wellbeing of the elderly in the municipality.
Those who wish for more information or need assistance with installation can contact the Unwanted Loneliness Project team through the informational poster or on the website olkano.com.
