The Town Hall of Perales de Tajuña has issued a mayoral decree that temporarily prohibits lighting bonfires throughout the municipal area. This measure responds to the high fire risk declared by the competent authorities and will be in force until weather conditions improve.
The prohibition affects any type of outdoor fire, including bonfires for burning pruning or agricultural waste, as well as barbecues and other activities that may generate sparks or embers. The decree warns that non-compliance with this regulation may result in financial penalties.
The council reminds that in case of emergency, one should call 112 and that citizen cooperation is key to preventing fires. This measure adds to the usual recommendations of not throwing cigarette butts or matches in the countryside and keeping vacant lots and plots clean.
The decision was made after the Community of Madrid activated the alert level for extreme fire risk in several areas of the region. Perales de Tajuña, surrounded by agricultural and forest areas, is particularly sensitive to this type of incident.
The decree will be displayed on the Town Hall's notice board and on the municipal electronic headquarters for consultation. Residents who need to carry out controlled burns must wait for the prohibition to be lifted and, in any case, request the corresponding permits.
