The San Lorenzo de El Escorial Town Hall is once again opening the Felipe II Park, 'Terreros', for associations to prepare their carts for the Romería of Our Lady of Grace. Applications will be submitted on August 18 and 19.
San Lorenzo de El Escorial is getting ready for one of its most cherished traditions: the preparation of carts for the Romería of Our Lady of Grace. To this end, the Town Hall has opened the application period for spaces in Felipe II Park, known as 'Terreros', which can be requested on August 18 and 19.
Interested associations must submit their application in person at the General Registry of the Town Hall, from 9:00 to 14:00 hours. To formalise the request, it is necessary to provide proof of a €50 deposit paid into the municipal CaixaBank account (IBAN ES73 2100 4074 2913 0032 8917) and a duly completed application form, which will be provided along with the information about the call. The deposit will be refunded once it is confirmed that the space has been left in good condition of cleanliness and maintenance.
The available spaces will be organised this year into several differentiated areas, and their allocation will be carried out through a public draw on Friday, August 21, at 12:00 hours, in the Town Hall's Plenary Hall. Associations participating with animal-drawn carts will be located in the area with the greatest accessibility, although the specific allocation will also be determined by the draw. On the same day, the final location of the associations within the venue will be announced.
The 'Terreros' venue will be available to the associations from August 24 to September 15, 2026, which is the deadline for removing all carts. The removal of carts located in the area of Juan Esteban Street can only take place on August 24 and 25, from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00 hours.
The Town Hall has established usage rules to ensure a safe, clean, and environmentally compatible setting, regulating hours, access and parking of vehicles, waste management, and use of available services. Among other indications, vehicle access to the venue will only be allowed for loading and unloading materials until 17:30 hours, after which it will be exclusively pedestrian.
On the day of the Romería, vehicles designated for transporting the carts will be allowed access from 8:00 hours on Saturday, September 12, while the departure of the carts from the venue will begin from 6:00 hours on Sunday, September 13. Specific instructions regarding the Romería procession will be communicated soon.
Thus, 'Terreros' will once again be the meeting point where associations shape, through work and camaraderie, one of the most recognisable images of the Romería of Our Lady of Grace over the coming weeks.
