The Town Hall of San Martín de la Vega has approved the project to complete the works of the Glorieta San Marcos park, with an investment of €1,016,293 co-financed by FEDER Funds. The tender could start this week.
The Town Hall of San Martín de la Vega has approved the project for the completion of the renovation works of the Glorieta San Marcos park. The planned investment amounts to €1,016,293, co-financed by FEDER Funds under the Integrated Action Plans for sustainable urban development.
The First Deputy Mayor, Sergio Neira, explained that the aim is to resume the works as soon as possible, respecting public procurement procedures. The tender could start this week, according to the council.

Neira thanked “the patience and understanding shown by the residents” and added that “we are working as quickly as possible after the significant setback we have suffered.” That setback was the termination of the previous contract due to the abandonment of the work by the awarded company, a decision supported by the Legal Advisory Commission of the Community of Madrid.
The councillor pointed out that it was necessary to draft and approve a new project to identify the current state of the work and the pending tasks, so that it can be executed with all guarantees. The action affects an area of more than 2,000 square meters that was degraded.
The project will turn the space into a climate refuge and meeting area. It includes the complete renewal of the pavement, the improvement of the café facilities and public toilets, which will have photovoltaic panels to be self-sufficient. Two playful fountains will also be installed, one of which will feature masts that spray misted water, seating areas, new landscaped areas with shrubs and plant gardens, LED public lighting, and the planting of new tree species.
With the project already approved, the next step is the tender process, in which companies will be able to submit their technical offers. These will be evaluated for the subsequent awarding of the works.
