The Town Hall of Sevilla la Nueva has launched 14 new surveillance cameras in the town centre, an action authorised by a resolution from the Government Delegation in Madrid dated 26 June 2026. The fixed devices are intended exclusively for monitoring public spaces and only record images, without sound.
The distribution of the cameras is concentrated in four high-traffic areas: eight in Plaza de los Arcos, two in Pasaje de la Guardia Civil, two in Plaza de Sevilla, and two in Plaza de España. The choice responds to the fact that public buildings, hospitality establishments with terraces, playgrounds, the market, and a good part of the municipal and festive events of the year are located in that environment.
The initiative stems from a request by the Town Hall itself to reinforce security in one of the most central and busy areas of Sevilla la Nueva. With these, the municipality expands the existing surveillance network.
The operation of the new image processing system corresponds to the Local Police of Sevilla la Nueva, while the supervision of its use falls under the Local Police Headquarters. Residents will see the cameras operational in the coming days, although the Town Hall has not specified a concrete activation date.
