The Biobosque of El Mirador, launched by the Villalbilla City Council in 2021, has become a space where nature regains its prominence. What was once a degraded area is now a place designed to enjoy, learn, and coexist with biodiversity.
The project includes wooded trails, shelters and nesting boxes for wildlife, a food forest, natural meadows, a xerophytic area, and a small watercourse. Each element has a purpose within the ecosystem.
One of the most notable aspects is the opportunity to observe the evolution of the ecosystem. There are already records of the birds visiting the biobosque, some of which have found a place to nest there. Monitoring of plant species and the fruits of the food forest is also being conducted.
The space acts as a garden for birds and an oasis for butterflies, and local residents can see how nature grows and how biodiversity recovers. The initiative aims to create healthy environments for people, encourage participation, and move towards a more sustainable and resilient municipality.
