The intercity lines 713 and 717 inaugurated a new terminal on Juan Pablo II Avenue, at the height of Antonio Gaudí, at the end of August. Line 717 also adds service on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
The bus network in Tres Cantos has expanded its coverage in the northern area to respond to the residential and business growth of the municipality. The intercity lines 713 and 717 have had a new terminal and stop on Juan Pablo II Avenue, at the height of Antonio Gaudí, since late August, extending the route towards new developments and facilitating connections with Madrid.
Line 717 has also extended its service to weekends, meaning it now operates on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
The Councillor for Mobility, María del Mar Sánchez, links these changes to the city's development:
These improvements respond to a very specific reality: Tres Cantos is growing, and the public transport network must evolve at the same pace. The expansion of routes and services allows us to bring the bus closer to new developments and continue improving connections for all tricantinos, especially in the northern area of the city.
The Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid (CRTM) will incorporate other improvements to the intercity bus system in the region in 2026. These include the validation of transport tickets from Android devices via NFC and Google Wallet, direct payment with contactless bank cards on board, and real-time information about routes, incidents, and estimated occupancy on Google Maps and other platforms, useful for planning transfers with Metro and Cercanías.
The fleet is being renewed with new generation electric and hybrid vehicles equipped with ramps, USB ports, interior screens, and driving assistance systems.
The City Council maintains a collaboration channel with the CRTM to continue adjusting the service. The mayor, Jesús Moreno, and the Councillor for Mobility met with the managing director of the Consortium, Pablo Rodríguez Sardinero, to convey new proposals: to increase the frequencies of lines 717, 712, 713, and 716, especially on weekends and holidays; to reinforce the night line N701; to improve service around the HM Tres Cantos Hospital; and to restore the usual routes to Plaza de Castilla when ongoing works allow.
In the urban area, the City Council has requested progress on the unification of lines L4 and L5 and to extend their hours.
The Councillor for Mobility summarises the municipal stance:
We value the improvements that have already been progressively incorporated and continue to work with the Consortium to advance on issues that will allow us to offer a service increasingly tailored to the needs of all tricantinos. Improving frequencies, routes, and connections is essential for public transport to keep pace with the city's growth and become an increasingly efficient, accessible, and sustainable alternative.
Residents in the northern area can now use the new stop on Juan Pablo II Avenue for lines 713 and 717, and line 717 also operates on weekends. Requests for more frequencies and the unification of urban lines are pending a response from the CRTM.
