The mayor of Tres Cantos, Jesús Moreno, and the mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, met to explore collaboration avenues in business attraction, urban development, culture and audiovisual. Moreno highlights the interest in learning from Málaga's experience.
The mayor of Tres Cantos, Jesús Moreno, and the mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, held a meeting to explore new avenues of collaboration between both cities in areas such as business attraction, innovation, urban development, culture and the audiovisual sector.
According to the Tres Cantos City Council, during the meeting both mayors shared experiences and projects of mutual interest, as well as the challenges and opportunities linked to the growth of two cities that have undergone significant economic and urban evolution in recent years.
One of the central topics was the possibility of connecting the business ecosystems of both locations to foster synergies between companies, institutions and professionals. In this regard, Moreno conveyed the potential of Tres Cantos and the presence of national and international companies, particularly in technology, science and innovation.
Tres Cantos has an extraordinary business ecosystem that we will continue to consolidate and project internationally. Establishing links with other dynamic cities and sharing knowledge and experiences allows us to broaden horizons, generate new connections and open opportunities for our business fabric,” the mayor highlighted.
Urban development was another key area discussed. The mayors exchanged experiences regarding the evolution of their respective cities and the challenges arising from growth processes. Tres Cantos is facing a new stage of development with the creation of spaces, facilities and services to meet the needs of its growth; in this context, Málaga's experience allows for insights into planning and managing urban transformation processes.
The growth of a city requires anticipating its needs and planning with a forward-looking vision. Sharing experiences with cities that have faced transformation processes of different scales allows us to understand other perspectives and establish points of collaboration that may be of interest to both,” Moreno pointed out.
De la Torre, for his part, demonstrated extensive knowledge about Tres Cantos and highlighted “the enormous capacity the city has had to establish itself, in just 35 years, as a thriving municipality, with a significant business and cultural fabric and an unemployment rate of just 3%.” The Málaga mayor described Tres Cantos as “an example of how, in a very short time, a city of well-being can be built: dynamic, attractive and with great future prospects.”
Culture and audiovisual also featured prominently in the meeting. Málaga has a solid position in the cultural and film sectors, while Tres Cantos has developed an ecosystem linked to audiovisual production and creation, with companies and producers such as Netflix, Movistar+ and Secuoya Studios, in addition to the Short Film Festival, which celebrated its fifth edition in 2026, and the development of Madrid Content City.
These common points open up possibilities for continuing to share experiences and generate synergies in sectors where both cities have much to contribute. Tres Cantos wants to continue establishing alliances and connections that allow us to project our talent, our companies and our capacity for innovation beyond our territory,” Moreno concluded.
The meeting has not yet resulted in specific agreements or a timeline for actions. Possible lines of collaboration focus on connecting companies and institutions from both municipalities and exchanging experiences in urban planning.
