The 'Al cole en dos ruedas' campaign by the Tres Cantos City Council has nearly 2,000 participants among schoolchildren who travel to class by bicycle or scooter. The winning vouchers can be redeemed until September 24, and the initiative continues until December 22.
Schoolchildren from Tres Cantos who go to school by bicycle or scooter receive a stamp for each journey. This is the system of the 'Al cole en dos ruedas' campaign, which the Mobility Department launched as part of the Safe School Routes, and which this Monday, September 22, coincides with World Car-Free Day.
The proposal targets students from Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary education, as well as their families. Each trip to school on these vehicles earns a stamp in a card. The journey starts with the yellow card of 10 stamps, followed by the blue card of 20, the green card of 30, and ends with a special card of 35 stamps designed for the 35th anniversary of the municipality.
Participants who already have one of the winning vouchers can redeem it until September 24 for tickets to the family show on October 4 at the Municipal Theatre. Those who have not completed their cards still have the option to continue collecting stamps: the campaign runs throughout the term, until December 22.
The Mobility Councillor, María del Mar Sánchez, has reported nearly 2,000 participations from schoolchildren.
The nearly 2,000 participations recorded to date with this campaign demonstrate the excellent reception of a proposal that aims, above all, to generate healthier habits for everyone.
The councillor explained the initiative's objective in the context of European Mobility Week.
We want schoolchildren to discover from a young age that there are other ways to get around the city and to incorporate them naturally into their daily lives. 'Al cole en dos ruedas' is a practical and fun way to generate those habits and also involve families.
The program is supported by the Safe School Routes, which aim to reinforce students' autonomy on their journeys to school and reduce traffic at school entrances.
