The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated a yellow warning for rain and storms in the Madrid area (Sierra) for this Saturday, August 15, which includes Venturada and the surrounding municipalities. The warning will be in effect from 14:00 to 22:00.
According to the adverse weather phenomena bulletin issued by AEMET, accumulated precipitation of up to 15 mm is expected in one hour. The probability of these phenomena occurring is between 40% and 70%.
The storms may be accompanied by very strong gusts of wind and hail, warns the General Directorate of Civil Protection of the Community of Madrid, which has disseminated the forecast. Given the possibility of experiencing intense storms at times, it is recommended to exercise extreme caution.
This warning comes after AEMET also issued a yellow warning for high temperatures between 13:00 and 20:00 in the same area on Friday, August 14. The combination of heat and storms is common at this time of year.
Civil Protection reminds that in case of any emergency, one should call 112. Residents of Venturada and the Sierra are advised to secure awnings, blinds, and objects that may be displaced by the wind, and to avoid taking shelter under trees or metal structures during storms.
The weather forecast indicates that Saturday afternoon will be the most complicated, so it is recommended to check the weather developments before engaging in outdoor activities in the area.
