Majadahonda City Council has begun renovation works at the Valle del Arcipreste sports centre, with a budget exceeding one million euros. The project includes the athletics track, the rugby pitch, and the changing rooms.
The City Council of Majadahonda has launched a comprehensive renovation of the sports facilities at Valle del Arcipreste, a project that exceeds a million euros in budget and aims to modernise one of the most used complexes in the municipality. The mayor, Lola Moreno, accompanied by the councillors for Urban Planning and Sports, Raúl Terrón and Alejandro Núñez, visited the site of the works on Tuesday.
The works include the renovation of the surface of the athletics track, the replacement of natural grass with artificial grass on the rugby pitch, and the refurbishment of the changing rooms. This last project affects four changing rooms, two male and two female, with improvements in their layout, flooring, and ceilings of the access corridors.
The installation of the new artificial grass will allow for doubling the hours of use of the rugby pitch, which will expand the sports offerings, especially on weekends. In total, the works affect an area of approximately 2 hectares designated for sports use.
During the visit, Lola Moreno emphasised the importance of renewing facilities used by two of the most prominent clubs in the municipality: the Majadahonda Athletics Club and the Majadahonda Rugby Club.

For his part, the councillor for Sports, Alejandro Núñez, explained that these works respond to the demands of the residents.
They will allow us to adapt the facilities to the current needs of the people of Majadahonda, maximising their use, expanding the availability of sports spaces during weekends to meet demand, and improving conditions for sports practice,” Núñez stated.
Valle del Arcipreste, built in the year 2000, has a seating capacity of about 600 spectators and is home to the athletics and rugby schools of the municipality. The ongoing works aim to adapt the venue to the current needs of athletes and fans in Majadahonda.
