The municipal library José Saramago in Rivas-Vaciamadrid reopens this Monday, September 21, after several weeks of renovations. The refurbishment has updated the furniture and reorganised the spaces.
The municipal library José Saramago in Rivas-Vaciamadrid, located in the Covibar neighbourhood, is reopening its doors this Monday, September 21 after improvements made to its facilities over the past few weeks.
The work has involved redefining the spaces and redistributing the areas and collections, with the aim of facilitating their identification and improving the flow of users throughout the building. The new layout also aims to enhance the sense of spaciousness, visibility, and brightness, as well as access to the resources.
The main novelty is the renewal of much of the furniture, which dated back to 1995, the year the library opened. The work has allowed for the replacement of tables and chairs at the reading spots, adapted to different age groups, from early childhood and families to young adults and adults. Some shelves have also been changed to improve the arrangement and accessibility of the collections.
Additionally, a new information and lending desk has been installed in a central position, visible from various points in the library, which facilitates public service.
The equipment includes a total of 108 reading spots: 16 in the children's area, 36 in the youth area, and 56 for those aged 14 and above and for adults. There are also 13 electrified spots, distributed between the youth and adult areas, to facilitate the use of laptops and other devices.
The library resumes its usual activities starting Monday, September 21, during its normal hours.
