The Madrid-based company presents its verse comedy about the New World, winner of the Teatro de Rojas 2026 award for best show, on Saturday, September 26 at 20:00.
The company Ron Lalá opens the new subscription season of the Pilar Bardem auditorium in Rivas-Vaciamadrid with 'La desconquista', a verse comedy with live music that will be performed on Saturday, September 26 at 20:00. Tickets cost between 6 and 12 euros, with discounts available, and can be purchased on the website entradas.rivasciudad.es and at the box office.
The production, directed by Yayo Cáceres with dramaturgy by Álvaro Tato, is set in the late 16th century. The plot follows three castaways adrift towards the New World: Captain Galán, who yearns for glory; sailor Fulano, who pursues gold; and missionary Friar Pío, who seeks souls for the faith. Two chroniclers record their adventures at sea and on unknown shores.
The quintet of performers includes Juan Cañas, Miguel Magdalena, Diego Morales, Luis Retana, and Daniel Rovalher, who bring to life 21 characters, including monarchs Carlos V and Felipe II, a jester, a prior, a mosquito, a demon, a shark, and a potato.
A scenic and musical celebration that revolves around the ambitions, obsessions, fears, and anxieties of the empire where the sun never set, in its quest for conquest and its astonishment at the new reality of a still-unknown continent,” explain the creators of the play.
The proposal, based on the chronicles of the Indies, combines original texts and music with humour and scenic poetry. With this production, Ron Lalá won the 2026 Premio Teatro de Rojas for best show.
The Madrid-based company, founded in 1996, thus returns to Rivas to inaugurate the subscription cycle of the auditorium. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the municipal website; the box office maintains its usual opening hours.
