The cultural and leisure agenda 'Vive Sanfer' of San Fernando de Henares kicks off September with the neighbourhood festival at Parque Henares, the 'El Moscardón' theatre competition, and a preview of the programming at the Teatro Federico García Lorca for October.
The City Council of San Fernando de Henares has presented the new edition of 'Vive Sanfer', the municipal agenda that brings together cultural and leisure proposals for the coming weeks. The programming includes theatre, neighbourhood parties, activities for young people, exhibitions, and events at the Rafael Alberti Library, aiming to offer plans for all ages.
One of the first events will be the Fiesta de la AV Parque Henares, which will take place on 11, 12, and 13 September in the Ondarreta square, featuring free activities for families to enjoy. On Friday, there will be an opening speech, exhibitions by the neighbourhood association, and music with a DJ; on Saturday, a chess tournament, a children's park with bouncy castles, a tourist train, distribution of sangria and soft drinks, a finger painting competition, and dancing with the Marlen orchestra; and on Sunday, games, entertainment with the La Complutense band, storytelling, and craft workshops.
Neighbourhood parties have something very special because they are moments to meet with those who are close to us, share activities, and enjoy our neighbourhoods in a different way. Parque Henares once again shows that there is a strong desire to participate and to build community,” said the mayor, Javier Corpa.
In the cultural sphere, the Amateur Theatre Competition 'El Moscardón' will begin on 19 September at the Teatro Federico García Lorca, with performances running until the early days of October. The programming includes six plays: 'Entrepasos', by Maru-Jasp; 'The Wedding of the Small Bourgeois', by Teatro Al Alba; '5 Seconds and 120 Kilos', by Métrica Pura; 'Tefía: Vagrants and Delinquents', by La Locandiera Teatro; 'Bad Girls, the Musical', by the Cultural Association Somnis; and 'The Vigil of the Brush', by Teatro en Construcción. For this edition, 67 proposals from amateur theatre groups across the country have been submitted. Access to all performances will be free, with invitations available at the box office two hours before each show.
The competition will conclude on 4 October with an awards gala, during which the new cultural season for the municipality will be announced. The statuettes will be created by the Collective of Plastic Artists of San Fernando de Henares.
The agenda also previews the October programming at the Teatro Federico García Lorca. On 17 October, 'On Time', a contemporary dance show by Fritsch Company and Compañía Psico Ballet featuring dancers with and without disabilities, will arrive. On 18 October, 'The Jungle Girl', by FESTUC Teatro, a puppet show for children over five, will take the stage. The Resident Dance Company OGMIA will present 'Mother Tongue' on 24 October, and on 25 October, 'Invisible', by LaJoven, an adaptation of Eloy Moreno's book on bullying, will be performed.
We are starting a season in which we want to continue bringing the performing arts closer to very different audiences. There is theatre, dance, family proposals, and accessible shows because culture must be a space where everyone can find themselves,” Corpa noted.
The Rafael Alberti Municipal Library will host the bibliographic exhibition 'Paper Keys' from 16 September to 7 October, featuring easy reading materials and support resources, in celebration of Literacy Day. On 21 September, a creative reading and writing workshop for children aged 8 to 13 will be held, and throughout the month, there will be meetings with authors.
