The municipality celebrates this Sunday, 20th September, its VI Bullfighting Festival, dedicated to the breeder Victoriano del Río. Javier Conde, Curro Díaz, David Galván, Manuel Diosleguarde and the novice Óscar Campos will parade before the cattle of the honoured breeder.
The portable bullring of Villar del Olmo hosts this Sunday 20th September the sixth edition of its Bullfighting Festival, which this year pays tribute to the breeder Victoriano del Río Cortés. The event, without picadors, will begin with the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to the honouree at six in the evening, from where the teams will head to the ring for the parade.
The lineup includes the matadors Javier Conde, Curro Díaz, David Galván, and Manuel Diosleguarde, along with the novice Óscar Campos. All of them will fight cattle from the Victoriano del Río breeding.
The choice of the breeder acknowledges a career linked to the breeding of fighting bulls that dates back to the 1980s. In the 2025 edition, dedicated to the master Juan Mora, David Galván cut two ears and the tail, and one of the specimens was awarded the vuelta al ruedo.
The festival was born in 2018 dedicated to Antonio Chenel 'Antoñete',” recalls the organisation, which has since maintained a line of tributes to figures in bullfighting.
In 2019, the honouree was the rejoneador Manuel Vidrié, with the presence of Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza, Finito de Córdoba, Francisco Rivera “Paquirri” and Juan del Álamo, among others. After the pandemic break, the festival returned in 2022 dedicated to the breeder Victorino Martín, and in 2024 the fourth edition recognised the master Andrés Hernando.
Tickets, starting from 15 euros, are available at the Town Hall, at the Asador Manzanero, and on the municipal app eÁgora.
