The Town Hall of Las Rozas, through Las Rozas Innova, has launched a pilot carpooling project for families of four educational centres. The initiative starts this Wednesday, 16 September, coinciding with European Mobility Week.
Families from four educational centres in Las Rozas de Madrid can now use an app to share rides for their daily commutes to school. The project, driven by the Town Hall through Las Rozas Innova, kicks off this Wednesday 16 September, coinciding with the start of European Mobility Week in which the municipality participates.
The participating centres are Colegio Zola, CEIPSOs Los Jarales and El Cantizal, and CEIP Los Olivos. The tool has been developed in collaboration with the AMPA associations of these schools, according to the Town Hall.
The aim is threefold: to facilitate family reconciliation, reduce the number of vehicles around the schools, and move towards more sustainable mobility. The initiative also seeks to avoid congestion during peak entry and exit times.
To encourage its use, Las Rozas Innova is funding up to €1.5 per trip and additional passenger in shared vehicles. This measure is part of the municipality's first pilot school carpooling project.
The Town Hall of Las Rozas is participating in European Mobility Week with various projects, including this carpooling system currently being tested at four centres.
