The Fairs and Festivals of Alcalá de Henares 2026 will take place from August 22 to 30 with over 300 activities spread across nearly fifty locations in the city.
Alcalá de Henares has already announced its programme for the August Fairs and Festivals. From August 22 to 30, the city will host more than 300 activities related to leisure, culture, and sports across nearly fifty venues, with a special focus on the festive groups.
The celebrations will officially kick off on Saturday, August 22, with the offering from the festive groups, the presentation of the Festival Ladies, and the opening speech from the balcony of the Town Hall, concluding on the night of Sunday, August 30, with the parade of floats and a fireworks display. The opening speech will be delivered by the APHISA Association, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary and will be recognised for its work in promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities.
The epicentre of the festivities will be the Fairgrounds at Isla del Colegio, which will open its doors on the afternoon of Friday, August 21. There will also be a Day Fair in Cervantes Square, featuring music from sunset until midnight, and stages in Huerta del Obispo, O'Donnell Park, and the main streets of the Historic Centre.
The Councillor for Fairs and Popular Traditions, Antonio Saldaña, has encouraged participation: “I invite you to experience these Fairs and Festivals intensely with responsibility, respect, and a spirit of coexistence, making Alcalá an example of participation and hospitality once again.”
Music for All Tastes
The musical programme includes the 'Concerts of the Wall' series in Huerta del Obispo, featuring performances by Loquillo on August 22, the Muralla Pop Fest on the 27th, the Muralla Camp with Chenoa, Fangoria, and Coyote Dax on the 28th, and closing on the 29th with Vanesa Martín.
Sementales Park will host music every night with local artists, such as the Alcalá Zarzuela Group, Juanjo Espinosa, Manuel Alejandro, and the Fórmula Pop band. There will be daily dancing in Cervantes Square with orchestras, tribute acts, and DJ sessions, as well as concerts like Efecto Pasillo on the 22nd and Rosa López on the 29th.
Theatre and Dance
The Teatro Salón Cervantes will offer a programme starting on August 21 and 22 with 'La pasión infinita', featuring Pepón Nieto, continuing with 'Alcalá Comedy Show' on the 23rd, 'Gool' by Yllana on the 26th and 27th, 'Canadá' with Santiago Molero on the 28th, and 'Mejor no decirlo' with Imanol Arias and María Barranco on the 29th and 30th.
The Patio de Santo Tomás de Villanueva de la Cisneriana will host a music and dance cycle, featuring the Flamenco Ballet of Cristian Díaz on the 23rd, the Camino de Vuelta Company on the 24th, the Esquivel Company on the 25th, and performances by the Albéniz Ballet, the Azucena Rodríguez Dance School, the Sapere Aude Ensemble, and the Pilar Barbancho Dance Company until the 29th.
The festive groups will organise more than 150 activities of their own, including music, sports, contests, workshops, games, tastings, and charitable actions. The First Deputy Mayor, Isabel Ruiz Maldonado, highlighted that the programme is “extensive and varied” thanks to municipal work and the commitment of entities such as regional houses, cultural associations, and festive groups.
The Fairs will reach all five districts with parades of Giants and Bigheads, children's parks in squares, and tournaments in municipal sports centres. Most events are free to access, and the complete programme can be consulted on the municipal website.
