The Campo Real Department of Festivities announces the Crazy Cars competition for September 9, with prizes of up to €150 and categories for speed, design, and endurance.
The Festivities Department of Campo Real Town Hall has opened registration for its traditional Crazy Cars competition, which will take place on September 9 at 20:00 as part of the Patron Saint Festivities. Interested parties can register for free via an online form until September 8.
The competition will award up to €150 to participants, who can compete in three categories: speed, best costume design and crazy car, and endurance. The aim, according to the Town Hall, is to encourage imagination, fun, and creativity, while also promoting the municipality's festivities as a tourist attraction.
The vehicles must be handmade and cannot use mechanical propulsion, such as engines or batteries; only inertia or bicycle-style pedals are allowed. Additionally, they must have at least three wheels, a braking system on two of them, and a steering mechanism. The organization will conduct a technical inspection before the race and may remove any vehicle deemed dangerous.
The circuit will start from the Villar del Olmo road, continue in front of the San Isidro Cultural Centre, and the finish line will be at the Plaza Mayor. Teams must consist of a minimum of one occupant and a maximum of four, plus at least two people to push the vehicle at the start. All participants must be at least 18 years old, although those aged 16 and 17 may participate with parental or guardian consent.
To ensure safety, each driver must wear an approved protective helmet; long trousers, long sleeves, gloves, elbow pads, and knee pads are also recommended. Vehicles must be original and thematic, and occupants should dress according to the theme, as a prize will be awarded for the most original car.
