The Colmenarejo Town Hall reminds that until September 30, it is prohibited to use machinery that generates sparks in forest areas and within a radius of 400 meters, and that barbecues are only allowed with express authorization.

The Colmenarejo Town Hall has issued a warning to residents ahead of summer and the rise in temperatures: the risk of forest fires increases sharply and the rules are strict. The council reminds that throughout the year it is prohibited to light fires or use barbecues in forest areas and within a 400-meter strip around them, unless express authorization is obtained.

The regulations of the Community of Madrid, which the Town Hall is now conveying to the public, become stricter during the high fire danger period, which runs from June 15 to September 30. During this period, it is prohibited to use machinery that generates sparks in forest areas and within the same 400-meter strip, such as metal brush cutters, grinders, blowtorches, welders, and harvesters.

Moreover, when the risk is very high or extreme, authorities may impose additional restrictions. The Town Hall urges extreme caution and reminds that a small oversight can have serious consequences for the natural environment and for people's safety.

And what about barbecues at home? In urban areas and within private plots or homes, there is no general prohibition, as long as the property is not located in forest land or within the 400-meter strip. Nevertheless, it is recommended to avoid any outdoor use of fire due to high temperatures and the elevated risk of fires.

The council calls for collective responsibility: prevention is everyone's task. If smoke or any sign of fire is detected, call 112 immediately, the single emergency number.
