The El Escorial Town Hall takes advantage of the summer period to carry out improvement works at CEIP Felipe II and Padre Gerardo Gil, with a total investment exceeding 500,000 euros.
The El Escorial Town Hall has launched a package of improvement actions at the public schools in the municipality during the summer, taking advantage of the non-school period to minimise disruption to the educational community. The works focus on CEIP Felipe II and CEIP Padre Gerardo Gil and total a investment of over 500,000 euros.
The most significant action is the replacement of the metal carpentry at CEIP Felipe II, with a budget of 396,604 euros. Of this amount, 246,604.90 euros come from the municipal treasury surplus and 150,000 euros from the Community of Madrid's Municipal Works and Services Cooperation Programme. The aim is to improve energy efficiency and thermal comfort for students.
At the same centre, funded by the Regional Investment Programme (PIR), a project is underway for the replacement of the vinyl coverings in the sports hall, with an investment of over 47,000 euros. The intervention includes a complete renovation of the floor and wall coverings, fully modernising the gym and improving its functionality and the safety of the students.
Other improvements have already been completed at CEIP Felipe II, such as the installation of two prefabricated and portable stands in the outdoor sports pitch, which will enhance the development of sports and school activities. This action has cost 33,141.33 euros. Additionally, the old boiler room has been converted into a new storage area to support the school's kitchen.
At CEIP Padre Gerardo Gil, completed works include the opening of a new door in the ground floor corridors to create a new space for storage and the increase in the height of the exterior metal enclosure of the centre, in order to strengthen the security of the facilities.
The Town Hall is also in the bidding phase for the project to execute a light cover in part of the school's outdoor patio, which will create new shaded areas and improve the well-being of students during the hottest months. The base bidding budget amounts to 88,312.46 euros, VAT included.
These actions are part of a municipal plan for the conservation and modernisation of educational infrastructures that is carried out every summer. The works are expected to be completed before the start of the next school year, so that students and teachers will benefit from the improvements from September.
