The Town Hall of Galapagar is finalising preparations for the Patron Saint Festivities in honour of the Most Holy Christ of Mercy, which will be celebrated in September. Before that, from August 17, the municipality will host card tournaments, board games, and sports competitions.

Galapagar will launch its festive agenda on August 17 with the start of the Pre-Festivities, a programme that will extend throughout the second half of the month and will include traditional championships, card tournaments, and sporting events for all audiences. The main days, dedicated to the Most Holy Christ of Mercy, will arrive in September, but the atmosphere will begin to heat up beforehand.

The first event will be the I Rummi Tournament, organised by the Senior Citizens' Association 'La Posada', which will take place from August 17 to 19 at 19:00 in the Senior Centre. Registration will cost 2 euros and can be done in person up to half an hour before the start of the games.

This will be followed by the Adult Parchís Tournament, which will be held from August 20 to 22 in the same venue starting at 20:30, with a fee of 5 euros per participant. Registrations for both tournaments will be carried out at the Senior Centre.

In the sports arena, the Galapagar Elite Federated Tennis Tournament will kick off on August 21 at the Municipal Sports Centre, running until September 6. Organised by the CDE Elite Tennis Galapagar, it will feature male and female categories in youth and senior divisions. During August, matches will take place from Monday to Friday from 16:00 to 22:00 and on weekends from 9:00 to 21:00. Interested parties can obtain more information by calling 625328759 or emailing elitegalapagar@gmail.com.

The last week of August will concentrate the most emblematic card championships. From August 24 to 28, the XXVII Chinchón Championship will be held in the Plaza de la Constitución at 20:30, using a five-zero system and with a registration fee of 10 euros. During the same dates, the bar at the Senior Centre will host the XXVII Tute Championship starting at 17:00, with a cost of 5 euros. In both cases, registration will be accepted until half an hour before the start.

To close the month, the XLIV Mus Championship will begin on August 31 in the Plaza de la Constitución at 20:30, extending until September 4. This historic tournament, also organised by the Senior Citizens' Association 'La Posada', will have a registration fee of 50 euros per pair, which can be formalised on the same day of the start at the La Posada building.

With this programme, the Town Hall of Galapagar aims to offer leisure and socialising options to residents throughout August, before the grand festivities in September. Board game and sports enthusiasts thus have a guaranteed appointment in the municipality.
