On Tuesday, August 25, Plaza de Palacio will host the Mass Mus Tournament, with over 500 registered participants. The day includes a snack for the elderly, 3x3 basketball, and children's activities.
The day on Tuesday, August 25 at the Alcalá de Henares Fair will kick off at 10:00 AM with a parade of Giants and Bigheads, which will traverse the Juan de Austria neighbourhood. The route will start from Plaza de Cervantes and pass through Libreros, Azucena, Paseo de la Alameda, Plaza de la Juventud, Avenida Virgen del Val, Salamanca, Felipe II, Juan de Austria, Ronda Ancha, and Teniente Ruiz, returning to the starting point.
The central event will be the Great Mass Mus Tournament, which will take place starting at 11:00 AM in Plaza de Palacio, with over 500 participants. Organised by the Madrileña de Mus Association, the tournament will begin with preliminary rounds; the finals and award ceremony will occur on Wednesday, August 26 in the Tapices Hall of the Círculo de Contribuyentes. Registrations, which were held from August 1 to 23 at the Tourist Office of the Capilla del Oidor (Plaza de Cervantes), are now closed as the quota has been filled.
In the afternoon, at 6:00 PM, the festive groups will offer a snack for the elderly at the Francisco de Vitoria Residence, located on Villamalea street. The traditional 3x3 basketball tournament, organised by the Club Baloncesto Alcalá, will also take place.
The little ones will have multiple options: inflatable castles in the Plaza del Viento (Espartales) and in the Youth Park, unplugged games in the O'Donnell Park and in Plaza de Palacio, a giant 100-metre water slide on Padre Llanos street, and workshops like 'Water Caretakers' at the Casita del O'Donnell, aimed at children aged 4 years and older.
The festive groups will also liven up the day: at 11:30 AM, Peña El Golpe will organise 'Tintapañuelos' in the Youth Park, and Peña El Hormigón will host a children's scavenger hunt in Plaza de San Diego. At 1:00 PM, there will be a foam party at the Capilla del Oidor, and at 1:30 PM, vermouth will be served in Plaza de Cervantes, alongside the charitable migas from Peña Los Jardineros, with a donation of 2 euros for a local association.
The evening will bring theatre and music: at 7:00 PM, 'Aldonza, La Encarada' will be performed at the Escalera de las Escolapias; at 9:00 PM, there will be a dance for the elderly in the Plaza; and at 10:00 PM, the Nights of the Park and Nights of the Patio will continue. Additionally, as part of the Moonlight Heritage visits, the Town Hall will be open for visits.
