Getafe City Council criticises the makeshift safety solutions for the Coca-Cola Music Experience and announces more acoustic measurements.
The City Council of Getafe has reported that the activity at the Iberdrola Music venue, located in Madrid, condemns the mobility of residents in Getafe Norte and Los Molinos. In the preparatory meeting for the Coca-Cola Music Experience, security forces have once again imposed makeshift solutions, such as a temporary traffic light under the M-45, which will allow attendees to access from Getafe and, according to the council, exacerbates traffic and pedestrian congestion.
Getafe warns that setting up temporary traffic lights on high-capacity roads does not resolve the flow of tens of thousands of attendees and blocks everyday access to homes and workplaces in the municipality. This measure will facilitate attendees parking in Getafe Norte or walking from the Los Espartales station, ignoring the technical requirements sent by Getafe for managing entries and evacuations to be conducted within the municipal limits of the capital.
To mitigate the inconveniences, the City Council of Getafe will prevent non-residents from accessing the parking lot of the Coliseum, monitor improper parking of motorcycles, and prohibit taxi and VTC stands.
The municipal government points to a network of shared responsibilities: the City Council of Madrid, for granting unilateral licenses and promoting a venue that generates noise in Villaverde and Getafe; the Community of Madrid, for financing events without mediation; the Government Delegation, for approving harmful devices; and private promoters, for profiting without bearing the costs of access or noise.
In light of this situation, the municipal technical services of Getafe will intensify campaigns to control noise emissions both at the Coca-Cola Music Experience and at the concerts of Shakira scheduled at the same venue.
