The Alcalá de Henares City Council launches the campaign 'At the Fairs, relate WITH-SENSE' with two points for attention and prevention of sexual assaults, one in the fairgrounds and another in Plaza de Cervantes.

The Alcalá de Henares City Council has presented the campaign to prevent sexual violence for the 2026 Fairs, which will take place from 23 to 30 August under the slogan “At the Fairs, relate WITH-SENSE”. The initiative, promoted by the Department of Equality, aims to promote safe festivities based on respect and consent, with special attention to the young population.

The main novelty of this edition is the installation of two safe points for Attention and Prevention of Sexual Violence: one in the fairgrounds and another in the Plaza de Cervantes. Both will be staffed by specialised professionals who will provide information, raise awareness, and offer support in the event of any possible assault.

The Councillor for Equality, Santiago Alonso, explained that this expansion aims to bring the resource closer to more people and reinforce its visibility throughout the festive programme. “We want to raise awareness, prevent, and provide information and resources in any situation of sexual violence,” he stated.

The campaign includes materials such as the Local Guide for Action against Sexual Violence, accessible via QR code, posters, information cards, and stickers on taxis and buses. Additionally, a sensitisation video will be projected on the screens at the concerts, and personalised fair cups and cup covers will be distributed to prevent chemical submission, along with bracelets and fans.

The City Council has coordinated the campaign with the Festive Associations, Local Police, and Civil Protection. The safe point will also provide support against assaults due to LGTBIfobia, in collaboration with the Community of Madrid.

Throughout the year, the Municipal Point of the Regional Observatory on Gender Violence provides specialised support to women victims of sexual and misogynistic violence in Alcalá de Henares. Residents and visitors will be able to locate the safe points during the fairs to receive help or information in case of any incident.
