The Local Government Board of Ciempozuelos has given the green light to the contract for the supply and installation of LED luminaires, a project that will improve energy efficiency and reduce electricity consumption in the municipality.

The Ciempozuelos Town Hall approved the new public lighting contract with LED technology at the Local Government Board meeting held on 30 July. This measure is part of the municipal energy efficiency plan and will involve the replacement of current luminaires in various areas of the urban centre.

According to the agreement, as noted in the extracts published by the council, the project includes the installation of over 2,000 light points in streets, squares, and parks in the locality. The aim is to reduce electricity consumption by around 60% and decrease CO2 emissions, in line with the municipality's environmental commitments.

The action, which will be financed from the municipal budgets, also includes the remote management of the new light points, allowing for more precise control of switching on and off, as well as remote fault detection. The government team highlights that this modernisation will result in better service and economic savings for public finances.

The execution period for the works will be six months once the contract is formalised, as stated in the file. The next step will be the public tender, which will be published in the coming days on the contracting profile of the Ciempozuelos Town Hall's electronic headquarters.

Residents will notice the difference mainly in the quality of the lighting, which will become whiter and more uniform, and in the reduction of dark areas in the municipality. The new system will also facilitate maintenance, as the remote management will automatically alert of any incidents.

This action adds to other sustainability initiatives promoted by the council in recent years, such as the installation of solar panels on municipal buildings. With LED lighting, Ciempozuelos is progressing towards its goal of becoming a more efficient and environmentally friendly municipality.

Those interested in the tender process will be able to consult the terms of reference as soon as they are published on the electronic headquarters. The Town Hall expects the works to begin before the end of the year, provided that the processing proceeds normally.
