The Galapagar City Council has completed the installation of textile canopies in the park on Avenida Víctimas del Terrorismo, with an investment of over €87,000. The initiative aims to make the use of children's areas more bearable during the summer.
Children in Galapagar can now seek refuge from the sun in the children's park on Avenida Víctimas del Terrorismo. The City Council has finished this week the installation of nearly 300 square meters of textile canopies that cover the play and rest areas, one of the most frequently requested demands by families during the hot months.
The initiative had a budget of over €87,000 and responds to the need to make one of the busiest parks in the municipality more comfortable. The new canopies are made of polyester coated with PVC, a material designed to withstand weather conditions and offer long durability.
The structure has been mounted on twelve tubular pillars anchored in concrete footings, arranged so as not to invade the safety zones of the play equipment. The canopies, in a triangular shape and at different heights, feature a slight curvature that facilitates the drainage of rainwater, as detailed by the City Council.
The Councillor for Services and Works, Paloma Lorenzo, explained that this improvement was one of the most repeated requests from users of the children's parks, especially in summer, when high temperatures make it difficult to enjoy these outdoor spaces.
The City Council is already working to extend this initiative to other parks in Galapagar. The plan is to prioritise those with the highest user traffic and the least natural shade, with the aim of improving the comfort of public spaces dedicated to children's leisure.
With this initiative, the municipality continues to adapt its play areas to the needs of families, allowing children to use them for longer hours even on the hottest days of the year.
