Public schools in Galapagar return to class with their sanitation networks reviewed. The Town Hall expands the water contract to include the maintenance of the internal networks of all municipal buildings.

Students at the public schools in Galapagar have started the term with the sanitation networks of their centres reviewed and clean. The work was carried out during August, taking advantage of the non-teaching period, as part of the new preventive and corrective maintenance service for the internal sanitation networks of all municipal buildings and facilities.

This measure is incorporated into the management of the Integral Water Cycle following the modification of the contract formalised with the service concession company. The contract, signed in 2014, previously covered the maintenance of the connections but did not include the internal networks of the municipal buildings themselves. With this change, the Town Hall introduces for the first time a continuous maintenance system for these facilities.

The preventive action will reduce the risk of blockages, unpleasant odours, dampness, and other incidents in educational centres, where any breakdown can affect the development of activities. The service will extend to all municipal facilities, including schools, sports facilities, and cultural centres.

The new contract establishes a maintenance programme that includes periodic inspections using a television camera, leak tests, cleaning of pumping wells, inspection chambers, drains, collectors, and backflow valves, as well as the maintenance of overhead and underground networks. The service will cover the facilities from the evacuation point of each building to its connection with the municipal network.

Additionally, the contract includes a 24-hour urgent response service, 365 days a year, to address possible blockages, unpleasant odours, dampness, or other incidents. It also includes the performance of special cleanings with special means when the situation requires it.

With this measure, the Town Hall of Galapagar is committed to a preventive maintenance model rather than acting only when a breakdown occurs, reinforcing the preservation of public buildings and improving the safety, health, and operation of facilities used daily by thousands of residents.
