The Tres Cantos City Council is accepting nominations for the 5th edition of the Essential Seniors Awards 2026 until 15 September. Residents over 65 will be recognised in five categories plus a special award.

The Tres Cantos City Council, through the Department of Seniors, is accepting nominations for the 5th edition of the Essential Seniors Awards 2026 until 15 September. The awards recognise residents over 65 who, through their trajectory, commitment, and contributions, have left a mark on the history of the municipality.

The awards will be presented in five categories: Social Action, Culture, Education, Health, and Sport, in addition to a Special Award from the Department of Seniors to recognise a particularly significant contribution to the city. All residents over 65 in Tres Cantos, regardless of nationality, education, or socio-cultural situation, who have had a positive influence on the life of the municipality, are eligible.

The mayor, Jesús Moreno, has encouraged residents to participate: “Tres Cantos has much to thank its seniors for. With these awards, we want to recognise life stories, effort, and commitment that are part of our own history as a city.” Moreno reminded that the call coincides with the 35th anniversary of the city.

The councillor for Seniors, Sonia del Amo, has also called for citizen collaboration: “I’m sure we all know an older person whose journey deserves to be recognised and shared.”

Each nomination must include the name and details of the proposed person, along with a brief biographical note highlighting their values, merits, and main contributions. Proposals can be sent via email to centro.mayores@trescantos.es or submitted through the City Council's Registry, either in person or electronically.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 1 October, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons, at the Theatre of the Adolfo Suárez Cultural Centre.
