The Galapagar City Council opens the call for direct birth grants with an initial allocation of 50,000 euros. The amounts range from 100 euros for the first child to 1,000 euros in cases of disability.
The mayor of Galapagar, Carla Greciano, has announced the launch of a call for direct birth and early childhood grants endowed with 50,000 euros to be distributed. The measure, presented after the closure of the patron saint festivities and the start of the political term, includes amounts of up to 1,000 euros per child.
Parents or adopters registered in the municipality for at least five years whose children were born, adopted, or fostered during 2025 will be able to apply. The processing will be 100% online and the application period is expected to open next week.
With this measure, we want the City Council to stand by families when they need it most. The arrival of a baby in the family entails extraordinary expenses, and our Government's commitment is not just words; it translates into real and direct relief for household finances.
The amounts are scaled according to the number of children: 100 euros for the first, 300 euros for the second, and 500 euros for the third and subsequent children. Single-parent families will receive a fixed amount of 300 euros from the first child, which increases to 500 euros if it is the third or subsequent child.
Additionally, children with a disability rating of 33% or higher will receive an extraordinary supplement of 500 euros, allowing the maximum of 1,000 euros per child.
The mayor has reviewed the degree of compliance with the electoral program, which stands at over 79%. Among the measures already implemented in Galapagar, she mentions the reduction of IBI without the restrictive income criteria that were applied to large families, the elimination of inheritance tax, and the reservation of parking spaces for pregnant women and families with babies.
In the educational field, the City Council has reinstated the school scholarship and academic merit program for students aged 0 to 18, has provided welcome baskets for births since September 2023, and has invested over 1,000,000 euros in renewing children's play areas. The four public schools have also been renovated with an investment of 600,000 euros.
The council has reopened the Teatro Jacinto Benavente, the Municipal Language School, with over 450 students, and the municipal swimming pools for summer and winter. In terms of inclusion, it has created the first Department of Inclusion and Accessibility, developed four TEA classrooms in primary education and an EBO classroom, and incorporated pictograms and sensory kits in municipal facilities.
The call for birth grants will be published on the electronic headquarters of the Galapagar City Council. Interested families must submit their applications online once the application period opens, expected in the coming days.
